The Trade of a Boilermaker includes:

·        Understanding duties, career prospects and relationships to other trades, working conditions and environment

·        Inspecting, planning, organizing and adopting safety habits in the workshop and on a construction site, prevention of accidents and the use of a first aid kit for first aid treatment

·        Identification, use and care of the hand and machine tools

·        To measure sizes, diameters and shapes with measuring equipment and test materials with testing equipments

·        To identify metals, metal forms, coatings and purposes in the metal trades and industry

·        To identify the need when to solder or to braze and adopting safe working practice when soldering and brazing of same and different materials together

·        To learn and develop the skills in arc welding

·        To learn and develop the skills in gas cutting and gas welding

·        To learn and develop the skills in MIG and TIG welding. (protective gas welding)

·        To learn and develop skills in resistance welding

·        To gain basic knowledge about other welding processes than arc, gas, resistance, MIG and TIG welding

·        To learn and develop skills in sheet metal work, pattern development, gutters, flashing, and fabrication work

·        To learn and develop basic skills in pipe work

·        To learn and develop skills with lifting equipment and adopting safe working practices when lifting

·        To learn and develop skills in managing a workshop in the boilermaker trade

·        Understanding of basic electricity that is part of boilermaker’s work

·        To learn and develop skills in technical drawings and interpretation of drawings

·        To learn and develop skills in trade mathematics and applied science in the boilermaker trade

·        To learn and develop skills in trade related theory
